Feed the donkey and he will score

Unlike the Premier League, our champion has got off to an absolute flyer. Wardonkey's pre-season training has paid off as he leaps to an early lead and odds on to take the Agent of the Month prize for August.

Our summer champ shamrockgaels is holding his own but is finding the going a lot tougher than the close season tournament.

Although players are scoring for stuff they do on the pitch, while the transfer window is open it's speculation that still piles on the points. Berbatov and Barry are raking in the points and you should expect them to continue up until the the start of September.

Transfer Tuesday: No new players in yet, but we say goodbye to Freddie Ljungberg and Claudio Pizarro. New boys next week, promise.

New season 08/09 - bring on the violins

And we're off and running for our third season. Champion Wardonkey's already put down a marker to retain his title with a very strong start - his arch-nemesis quizking surely can't be far behind. Maybe you've got the power to stop them both?

If you're new to the game it certainly isn't too late to join in - we update every day so many thousands of points are scored over the season, so there's plenty of time and opportunity to catch up.

Transfer Tuesday this week saw the much promised house-keeping as our scoring computer, Zen, cleared out all the summer leavers (messrs Hleb, Lehmann, Makelele et al) the new arrivals will start to come in from next Tuesday.

Something new that you might like is our Roll of Honour - a list of all the previous winners we've had. You could be the next name added to the list.

I'm looking forward to this season - both on the pitch and in the game - surprises all the way, and if there's one thing we like in FFA it's surprises. The nastier the better.

Shamrockgaels Summer Champion 2008

Clear winner of our close season comp was shamrockgaels who finished more than a hundred points clear of any else. A fantastic achievement for a newcomer to the game.

No rest for wicked though as the new season starts and no doubt the return to form of the heavyweight players.

The first day of scoring is on a Friday so that means values will change immediately. No easy settling in period this campaign - you'll have to hit the ground running.

Here's the final scores on the doors for Summer Madness 2008:

Caution: Wet Paint

Well I hope you're all enjoying the blistering sunshine... actually I can't help but feel partially responsible for the awful weather we're having: I did some gardening at the weekend and did a rain dance to bed the new turf in. Little did I know the full consequence of throwing down a few rain-making shapes. Still, a long rainy Sunday was all I needed to give this place that much promised re vamp. Of course all of you who played in the Euro 2008 will be familiar with the new look. I hope you like it, I haven't had any complaints about it so far.

The summer contest carries on a pace, now fueled entirely on transfer speculation (and the odd court case). Believe it or not though the season starts next week - for Aston Villa at least, as they start their campaign in the Intertoto Cup.

Our season proper kicks off on August 1, but we still have the matter of the Summer competition to get through. Well done at ajheath for taking the spoils for June, it was a high scoring month if you managed to get a few Euro stars in your portfolio. AJ will be pressed to keep the lead to the end of July with a good showing from rob2183 and Onion Bag writer Dotmund.

IMPORTANT The relegated players leave the tomorrow (8 July). So get your thinking caps on if they're in your portfolio - you'll have some gaps to fill. I'll also be loading up the new teams and players into Zen.

Until then, let us know what you think of the new design, and anything you want to see here for the start of next season.

Wardonkey - FFA Champion 2007/08

After an amazing run-in Wardonkey has become the second Fantasy Football Agent Champion. It was an amazing final month which saw previous Champion Quizking claw his way back to the top for Wardonkey to kick to the line to win by 98 points, just a whisker short of 9000 points for the season.

Thanks to both you guys for setting a level of gameplay everyone else has to follow. Let's hope for more of the same next season.

I can't not mention nict for winning his first Agent of the Month. Well done, let's hope there's plenty more to come. And of course I'm not bitter that your final push sent me to 7th spot. Not bitter at all.

But of course - there's no rest for the wicked. Our Summer Madness game starts on June 1 for two months and of course we also have A NEW FANTASY FOOTBALL AGENT GAME FOR EURO 2008

It's a one month only game for the whole of June. Use your FFA account and get a new team ready for the Euros - they start on June 7. It'll also give you a chance to check out our new layout for FFA - hope you like it - we'll be brightening this place up at the end of the season.

There's more fun to be had at The Onion Bag's Euro 2008 pull-out so be sure to check it all out.

One final word - congratulations Jimbo on Pompey's victory - you were right after all.
